Current Research Projects

Below, in alphabetical order, is a list of open club and publicly funded projects which are currently under way, or have been completed very recently.

Resin-Clay Nanocomposites For Improved Anti-Corrosin Coatings [NCLAY]
PRA Coatings Technology Centre, together with an academic and industrial partnership, has been awarded funding for this project under the UK Government's (DTI) Micro and Nano Initiative. the project investigates the production of novel resin-clay nanocomposites and their effects on barrier properties.

Performance of Conformal Coatings in Corrosion Protection of Electronic Assemblies [PEAS]
PRA is a partner with the NPL in this DTI funded project. The project aims to deliver robust testing protocols based on scientific investigation of circuit board degradation.

Life Performance Testing of Coatings using a Controlled Temperature Natural Weathering System [DURA2]
This project looks to develop a versitile temperature controlled rack and investigate the effect of season, latitude and temperature cycles on the weatherability of a series of coatings.

Dirt Pick-Up: The Environmental Soiling Of Surface Coatings [DIRT]
The project is looking at the development of test methods while contributing to an increased understanding of the science underlying the soiling of surface coatings through dirt pick-up.

Testing And Evaluation For Surface Hygiene Applications [TESHA]
Aims to generate quantified sampling data from diverse target surfaces, to extend/develop methodology suitable to deliver relevant defined performance measurements and to identify & assemble available hygienic surface technologies to be characterised.
