Testing Applied Paint Films
Scope and Field of Application
These tests may be carried out on freshly applied or aged
coatings and are often used to assess test panels after durability or corrosion testing.
It is important to emphasise that, generally, these tests do
not have any pass/fail criteria. The standards simply describes
the test equipment and the manner in which the tests should be
carried out. Pass/fail criteria are a matter of prior agreement
between customer and supplier but if this information is not
available we will be pleased to give our opinion, where possible,
of what constitutes a good, acceptable or poor result.
We appreciate that some clients may be uncertain which tests
are most appropriate for their products. One important rule for
those who wish to use test data for promotional purposes is,
wherever possible, liaise with potential customers first and find
out if they have any preferences regarding the tests that they
require and the methods they prefer.
